She presents two contrasting visions of the future: One anticipates that insurers' algorithms will be enforced through pocket computers, and the other envisions clinician-developed practice guidelines being used to improve decisions, reduce paperwork, and enhance patient-provider interactions. These contrasts are also prominent in our survey, in which physicians perceived guidelines as potentially educational and coercive, quality-driven and economically motivated, and convenient and disciplinary [1].The “Brave New World” envisioned by Dr. Hongsermeier assumes that health insurers will control the development and enforcement of clinical guidelines. ...REFERENCE1.
