Abstract
Using the Boltzmann equation we derive the expressions for the conductivity and diffusion tensor for a nondegenerate semiconductor which are valid for arbitrary values of the dc field. Following Yamashita and Watanabe, the distortion of the isotropic part of the distribution function has been taken into account. The acoustic-phonon scattering has been considered as the sole mechanism of electron scattering. The absorption coefficient has been calculated numerically and its variation with dc electric field studied for various values of ql. It is seen from the results that values of absorption coefficient are considerably changed by using a non-Maxwellian distribution function.
