Abstract

Antigens were prepared from the washed erythrocytes of cattle carrying high parasitaemias of a South African and a Kenyan strain ofAnaplasma marginale. Saponin was used as adjuvant. Following syringe challenge with virulentA. marginale, the vaccine produced a delay in infection compared with unvaccinated controls, and in some cases reduced the severity of the infection.
