Abstract

Risk management is a major concern for construction companies in Algeria. Indeed, these companies often face risks that may disrupt a smooth-running construction project. In addition, the latent effects of these risks can jeopardize the durability of the structure as well as the safety and comfort of users. The work presented here consists in considering the most appropriate risk analysis methods employed in project risk management. The main purpose is therefore to design and create a comparison matrix according to predefined criteria and weights in order to compare the different methods and classify them. To do so, it was decided to carry out a confrontation of methods like the preliminary risk analysis, bow tie, failure modes, effects and criticality analysis, and systems malfunction analysis methodology (MADS) (Methodologie d’Analyse de Dysfonctionnement des Systemes) and method organised systematic analysis of risk (MOSAR), in the case of the project involving the construction of a highway viaduct in the Algerian environment. At the end of this article, an attempt is made to demonstrate which of the risk analysis methods is best suited for this type of project.
