Abstract

Cutter‐joints—During the past year, at the request of Dr. Church and Mr. Elges, I have conducted a number of experiments and tests on two methods, other than the one now used, of joining the sections and cutters of the sampler‐tubes. This work was carried out in the Mechanic Arts Shops and Civil Engineering Laboratory of the University of Nevada. The purpose of these experiments was to develop a joint between the aluminum tube and steel cutter that would make the replacement of the cutter possible in case of damage under conditions encountered in the field.
