Abstract

A study was made of the viability and ATP content of blastospores of Paecilomyces farinosus stored in quarter-strength Ringer's solution at 4 and 20 °C. Blastospore viability decreased with time at both temperatures. Loss of ATP by blastospores was approximately biphasic, with a sharp initial decrease being followed by a more gradual decline. Appreciable loss of blastospore viability was only observed after they had lost ca 30% of their initial ATP content.
