Abstract

Short-range order of amorphous Cu x Zr 1− x ( x = 30, 50, 67 at%) and Ni 67Zr 33 are studied. In the case of CuZr alloys we use Cu-EXAFS, Zr-EXAFS and X-ray scattering data. For NiZr alloy Ni-edge χ ( k) and DSF are involved to solve the system of Fredholm integral equations by the regularization method. The partial pair correlation functions (PCFs) are determined. The nearest neighbourhood of CuZr alloys may be interpreted within the framework of a hard-spheres model. In contrast, the NiZr PCFs exhibit a trend to strong chemical short-range order.
