Abstract
For pt.V see ibid., vol.20, p.6431-46 (1987). The variation-perturbation technique with optimised configuration-interaction expansions is used to obtain static dipole polarisabilities alpha d of the ground states of helium-like ions from Z=2 to Z=12. The values of alpha d are in excellent agreement with those obtained using Hylleraas expansions. The ground 1S and 'pseudo' 1Po states are suitable as target states in R-matrix calculations.
