Abstract

This volume is a collection of 18 papers divided into six sections, including a brief introduction to each section. The stated purpose of the series and this volume is to probe the ability of statistical and mathematical analyses to explain complex societal problems. The data presented describe the various study populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki survivors developed and augmented by the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC) and by its successor, the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF). The papers outline the epidemiologic and statistical methods used to analyze and interpret the follow-up data. The first section updates the data collected and maintained in the major cohort studies, the Life Span Study (LSS) and the Adult Health Study (AHS).
