Abstract

A technique has been developed for making atomic-beam magnetic-resonance experiments on refractory elements. The atomic beam is produced by heating a small ball at the end of a wire by means of electron bombardment. The technique is primarily intended for radioactive work, and it is sensitive enough for investigations on neutron-deficient nuclei. In this work the spin values of two radioactive isotopes are reported, namely 99Mo (67 h), I = 12, and 99mTc (6 h). I = 12, The measured spin values are compared with spectroscopic results and discussed in terms of the nuclear models.
