Abstract

Atomic and electronic structures of multiply-twinned boron nitride (BN) nanoparticles with fivefold symmetry were investigated by molecular orbital/mechanics calculations. The total energy calculation showed that the structures would be stabilized by stacking of BN layers, and the energy gap of the BN cluster was calculated to be ∼0.2 eV.
