Abstract

On February 27, 1973, gamma ray measurements in the energy range 1.5--10 MeV were performed with a balloon-borne double Compton telescope from Palestine, Texas. The telescope had a mean acceptance cone of 20degree half angle. From this measurement the spectra of vertical atmosphere gamma rays could be derived for various depths. These spectra are presented here and compared with other theoretical and experimental work.
