In the Atlas of Optic Nerve Disorders—intended for the ophthalmologist clinician or trainee—Dr Spoor provides more than an illustrated atlas. ... material for discussion and debates, if not arguments.... In addition to the abundant color photographs of optic discs, he includes brief summaries of the conditions depicted and specific advice regarding the diagnostic evaluation and medical and surgical treatment of them. The numerous two-dimensional color photographs of the optic discs are of good quality, but at times they and the illustrations of the magnetic resonance and computed tomographic scans would have been enhanced by markers pointing out the features to be emphasized. An unusual feature of this book is the inclusion of many specific clinical examples to illustrate the points of the text, with a brief review of the history, physical examination findings, and clinical course of the patient. The accompanying illustrations of the external appearance, visual fields, fundus photographs, and scans give vitality to the descriptions and are conveniently located on the same page. Some
