Abstract
Atlas of Mammography is beautifully done. It is complete in its descriptions of the normal breast, benign disease, and malignant disease. For an atlas, it maintains the right proportion of text and illustrations. The illustrations are invariably and unfailingly superb, where book and journal reproductions are often poor. Each of the sections begins with several pages of text followed by photographs, which are accompanied by brief explanatory statements. Two additionally good features are the chapters which summarize the differential diagnosis of benign disease and that on the medicolegal implications of x-ray diagnosis of breast disease. This is a book on Gershon-Cohen and his group; it is not a review of the work of others. In the chapter on technique only his personal experience and preference is given and no mention is made, for example, of xeroradiography. If one wants the best on mammography, however, here it is.
