Abstract

This book presents a departure from the usual style of an atlas. There is an excellent initial chapter on laryngeal anatomy, followed by chapters on endoscopy, airway procedures, abductor paralysis, adductor paralysis, chronic aspiration, acute laryngeal trauma, chronic laryngeal stenosis, tracheal stenosis, pediatric laryngotracheal stenosis, spasmodic dysphonia, benign laryngeal tumors, malignant glottic tumors, malignant supraglottic tumors, malignant tumors of the laryngopharynx, and tracheoesophageal speech rehabilitation. The text of each chapter discusses indications, contraindications, advantages, disadvantages, complications, specific diagnostic studies, equipment, preoperative planning, surgical technique, postoperative considerations, and special comments ("pearls") that highlight steps to success with the surgical procedure. The illustrations are excellent: simple, with just enough detail to be instructive without being cluttered. Although only 91 plates are numbered, each plate contains numerous drawings that adequately illustrate the subject.
