Abstract
The general objective of this research was to highlight how reading mediation activities are developed in the school libraries in the Salvador state public educational network. In terms of methodology, this research was descriptive, employing a multiple case study approach to investigate reading mediation activities in these libraries. Moreover, questionnaires were applied by email seeking to understand how reading mediation activities are carried out in the 22 public school libraries. The results of the survey revealed that 19 librarians engage in reading mediation activities and that the most frequently cited objective for these activities was to encourage/stimulate/induce interest in reading. Thus, through the investigative trajectory, it was possible to conclude that the most common approach to reading mediation activities in public schools libraries in the Salvador state public educational network involves collective actions that occur more directly, with the participation of readers.
