Abstract

Current research evaluated the antifungus potential of ethanol extract of Solanum crinitum fruits against Rhizoctonia solani in vitro. 5-mm diameter discs with cultures of fungus isolates were placed in the middle of petri dishes with medium BDA, while four discs of filter paper with 1 mL of the vegetal extract were symmetrically placed on the periphery. Positive control consisted of discs without the vegetal extract, whereas negative control contained the chemical compound. Experiment was randomized with three replications (plates) per treatment. Fungus growth was verified every 24 hours during 6 days, by measuring the colonies. The ethanol extract of S. grandiflorum fruits had relevant fungicide activity on the fungus R. solani and thus its use in the control of the microorganism.
