Abstract

Above threshold ionization of two structurally different systems is presented namely a rare gas such as argon and the more complex C60 fullerene. We show that the ionization dynamics is different and is dominated by the presence of high-lying Rydberg states in Ar and low-lying bound states in C60. The study is based on a theoretical (solving the time dependent Schrodinger equation) and/or experimental (using measurements from a photoelectron imaging spectrometer) aspect.
