Abstract

Exposure to Nature appears to be fundamental to optimal human functioning. Yet modern society has become defined in recent decades by a reliance upon computing and mobile technology. This technological ascendance appears to have driven a decrease of human interaction with natural environmental systems as our species has become increasingly urbanized. The result of such city living may be a decrease in mind-body health. Nonetheless, humanity has the potential to leverage technology in innovative ways as a tool with which to actualize our evolutionary potential. We propose that technology and Nature must intentionally intersect if humanity is to evolve toward a bright green future. Key Words: Nature—Stress reduction theory—Attention restoration theory—Hypnosis—Meditation—Technology.
