Abstract

At the Door to the Conference, I Beg the White Guard to Let Me In Hazem Fahmy (bio) Badge & ID. I have it, I swear:I paid, I paid. Sorry,it is his job. Nothingpersonal. I knowit is low stakes; an upset pebblerolling into the ocean—not a job,or healthcare. If I don't get in,I will survive. I knowit's just security;protocol—all for mysafety. He is currently pursuing his ma in Middle Eastern Studies and Film Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. His debut chapbook, Red//Jild//Prayer won the 2017 Diode Editions Contest. A Kundiman and Watering Hole Fellow, his poetry has appeared, or is forthcoming in Apogee, AAWW, the Boston Review and The Offing.
