Abstract

Leadership is a constant concern of Nursing Management, so we have been pleased to carry material about the Leading Empowered Organisations (LEO) programme in this and recent editions. Having played a small role in bringing its predecessor, Leaders Empower Staff, to the UK in the early 1990s, I am glad to see it has been of benefit to so many nurses and other healthcare professionals. The Department of Health's con tinuing investment in nursing leadership demonstrates its impact on the service, and acknowledges that leadership can be learnt. And, according to ministers, grade D and E nurses will be among those to benefit most from the latest developments at the NHS leadership centre.
