Abstract

AbstractIn a reflective essay, the author draws upon experiences in two ongoing projects to suggest ways in which the literatures on museum‐based ethnographic collaboration might be enriched and extended. One illustrative project is a binational, multi‐institutional endeavor linking six museums within a larger program of cooperation led by two national scholarly societies. The other case is the work of an ethnographically oriented, museum‐based public arts program working on a statewide basis in a midwestern state in the United States. The author concludes with a call to develop frameworks for fostering partnership activities between museums of ethnography.
