Abstract
A class of quasilinear dissipative systems is considered and a general procedure is pointed out in order to investigate the behaviour of the solution of the associated hyperbolic system when dissipative effects occur. The axisymmetric motion of a vicous thermally conducting fluid is considered as a physical example and an approximate solution in similarity form is investigated.
