Abstract

The authors analyze a resonator with plane-parallel mirrors (a Fabry-Perot resonator) with a single-frequency generation in a single longitudinal mode, consisting of mirrors that are infinite in one direction and tuned to the center of the active-medium emission line. As a result of asymptotic analysis, the initial problem described by partial differential equations is simplified, and reduces to solving a system of ordinary differential equations in the resonator cavity with effective boundary conditions obtained from combinations with the solution in the diffraction regions approximated by the transverse dimension divided by the square root of the Fresnel number close to the edge of the mirrors.
