Abstract

Abstract Asymptotic relations among form factors of the Σ-baryon derived in an earlier note are reexamined in the limit of SU(3) symmetry. A relation between Σ-vector and axial-vector form factors is found to be modified by the appearance of terms containing Σ-Λ electromagnatic and weak axial form factors. A second relation involving Σ Sahcs isovector electric and magnetic form factors reappears, but only as one of two conditions at least one of which must hold if consistency of the approach is to be ensured. The second condition requires that the F / D ratio for the axial current in the baryon octet should satisfy (F/D) 2 = 1 3 , which is exactly what emerges on saturating certain dispersion sum rules with common-mass baryons of the SU(3) octet representation. Two additional asymptotic relations, one relating isoscalar magnetic form factors and the other connecting induced pseudoscalar form factors are also obtained.
