Abstract
Boltzmann’s H theorem and variational methods are used to find the temporally asymptotic form of the radial current density profile of a paraxial relativistic electron beam propagating in a scattering gas-plasma medium along a static external magnetic field and a neutralizing ion background. It is shown that in this case the radial profile is Gaussian.
