Abstract

Stokes flows of viscous fluids within a corner, which are caused by motion of one of the sides forming the angle, are well known. Tailor has analyzed the flow within a corner between a solid wall and a solid plate moving like a scraper along the angle wall [1]. Moffatt has solved the problem of flow within a corner when one of its sides is the solid wall and, on the other wall, instead of a solid plate, there is a plane free boundary on which the tangential stress is absent [2]. The Tailor– Moffatt problem belongs to the class of plane problems for Stokes equations.
