Abstract

A survey of electron exchange interactions in ion (atom)-atom systems at large internuclear distances is given. Both one- and many-electron exchange processes are considered. The analysis and calculations of exchangd calculations of exchange interactions are performed by using the Firsov- Landau-Herring and other asymptotic methods which provide asymptotically exact expressions for the electron exchange interactions. The relation of the exchange interactions to the dynamics of various inelastic ion-atom collision processes in the adiabatic region is discussed.
