Abstract
AbstractThe consequences for hierarchical stability of almost circular almost coplanar, low perturbation orbits in an n-body hierarchical dynamical system is discussed. It is shown that frequent close approaches to mirror conditions with subsequent reversing of perturbations is ensured by such properties. The part played by near commensurabilities in mean motion is also discussed, the Sun-Jupiter-Saturn case being taken as an example.
