Abstract
We investigate asymptotic problems in variational inequalities formulated in terms of the theory of Direchlet space in relation to the study of asymptotics of the value functons of optimal stopping fo ergodic diffusion processes. Our results apply not only to reflected fiffusion processes on bounded regions but also to ergodic diffusion processes on whole Euclidean space
