Abstract

Investigations have been carried out concerning the magnetization reversal and the spin-valve magnetoresistive effect in Fe19Ni81(50 Å)/Cu(L)/Fe19Ni81(50 Å)/FeMn(100 Å) films. It is established that the value of the spin-valve effect (SVE) measured along the easy axis depends on the magnetic prehistory of the specimens. After magnetizing the films in a field with direction opposite to that of the internal biasing field, the SVE value may be substantially larger than after magnetizing in a field with opposite sign.
