Abstract

Abstract Reflection holograms were recorded in dichromated gelatin and dichromated poly(vinyl alcohol) using Lippmann and symmetric configurations. In their diffraction spectra, asymmetry has been observed and a series of secondary peaks appeared on only one side of the main peak. A detailed theoretical analysis has been made for both recording geometries. The relationship between the appearance of secondary peaks with the refractive index was given. The number and the amplitude of the secondary peaks are related to the thickness of the recording medium as well as the recording geometry.
