Abstract

Co3+-based asymmetrical metalloligands 1 and 2 have been utilized for the synthesis of {Co3+–Cd2+} (3 and 4) and {Co3+–Ag+} (5 and 6) heterometallic coordination polymers (HCPs). The structural studies of {Co3+–Cd2+} HCPs 3 and 4 display the generation of two-dimensional networks whereas {Co3+–Ag+} HCPs 5 and 6 exhibit one-dimensional zig-zag chain topologies. The symmetry of the appended functional groups and geometrical aspects of secondary metals were found to govern contrasting architectures.
