Abstract
The asymmetric vortices and induced side forces were surveyed for a series of configurations ,the body alone, the wing-body combinations with various wing positions along the body axis and the wing—body—vertical tail combination. The several kinds of strakes were inspected for alleviating the asymmetric vortices on the body and the combinations. Some efforts emphasized on the mechanism of the formation for asymmetric vortices through the flow visualizations and the force measurements. Some insights were put into the mechanism of asymmetric vortices formation and alleviation.
