Abstract

A new asymmetric magnetic unit is proposed, which can effectively eliminate the ‘dead spot’ in a three-phase IPT (inductive power transfer) system, in which the spiral direction of any one of the three primary coils is opposite to that of the other two, and the pick-up voltage can increase more effectively compared to that of the traditional symmetrical magnetic unit. The viability of the proposed magnetic unit is supported by experiments, the results of which show that the unit plays a key role in the three-phase IPT system design.
