Abstract
An asymmetric decomposition method is proposed in this paper, which describes surface, double-bounce, volume, and asymmetric scattering terms. The proposed method is based on the orientation-angle-compensated coherency matrix and is used to deal with non-reflection symmetric scattering cases. The proposed decomposition method applies the correlation coefficient between like- and cross-polarized channels to solve the unknown parameters and discriminate the urban areas and the natural distributed areas. It has been found that the asymmetric scattering is predominant in urban areas and disappears in natural distributed areas. The results of the experiment confirmed that the proposed decomposition method can be used effectively to distinguish different types of terrains.
