Abstract
An Italian-Dutch satellite for X-ray astronomy (SAX), which covers energies between 0.1 and 300 keV with unprecedented resolution, was successfully launched from Cape Canaveral at the end of April. The satellite was funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) with support from the Netherlands Agency for Aero-space Programmes. The SAX programme manager at ASI, Roberto Ibba, confirmed in early May that the mission was “going extremely well and was already two weeks ahead of schedule in the commissioning phase”.
