Abstract

Abstract Ancient Egyptian engagement with celestial phenomena is attested through a variety of sources, primarily surviving in religious and funerary contexts. Examples of astronomical activity include knowledge of star names and movements, depictions and explanations of celestial bodies, use of astronomical phenomena for timekeeping, creation of tables and instruments, observations for architectural purposes, and astrological practices.
