Abstract This contribution will deal mainly with special and smaller astrometric problems in the southern hemi- sphere, rather than with extensive systematic ones. First of all we should perhaps narrow the scope of the southern hemisphere to mean only that part of the sky south of, say, declination -15 or - 20 since the area between -20 and 0 is generally fairly well observed and taken care of by observatories in the north.
