Abstract

Astragalus pseudoanisacanthus, a new species from northern Balochistan (Pakistan), is described and illustrated. The new species is a perennial, loosely branched, slender spiny shrub characterized by whitish corolla and broadly ellipsoid standard limb. The legume is semi-bilocular, 2‒4-seeded and sparsely pilose with white hairs. The morphological, anatomical, pollen and seed morphological features of A. pseudoanisacanthus are compared with its closely related species, i.e. A. anisacanthus.
