Abstract

Professors Li Pei-Chun and Ni Chi-Cheng (1979) recently published a new species, Astragalus monticola, from China (Tibet, Zhongba, 4700 m alt., 1975, VII. 17, ChinghaiTibetan Complex Exp. 6767). Illustrations, a Latin diagnosis, and a Chinese description were given. Unfortunately, the name is a later homonym of Astragalus monticola Philippi (1864), a South American species from the cordillera of Santiago (Chile) and Prov. San Juan (Argentina) from 20003500 m. Consequently, a substitute name is proposed for the Chinese species:
