Abstract

ABSTRACT Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) remains the most common rheumatic disease in childhood with an unknown etiology unlike adult-onset arthritis. Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood, affecting 7-10% children globally and has a multifactorial etiology involving genetic, environmental and immunological factors. Studies show evidence about a common genetic background of asthma and JIA with potential link between the two conditions despite different systems being affected. We present a case of a 9 year old boy presenting with joint pains who was confirmed to have asthma and JIA and was managed accordingly for both pathologies.
