Abstract

An Assorted topology of hybrid filter in front end system compensates the reactive power and current harmonics. In this study, a various topology of hybrid filter (SSHF) is analyzed in the point of harmonic reduction, power factor and voltage stress in active filter. Three configuration of hybrid filter is taken for the analysis to mitigate harmonics and reactive power. Shunt hybrid filter, series hybrid filter and shunt- series hybrid filter are the different topology of hybrid filter. The combination of active and passive components forms the hybrid filter where the active filter is controlled by adaptive controller. The least mean square algorithm based adaptive controller is preferred where the learning rate is found by trial and error. The passive filter is tuned to the dominant harmonics and the active filter/series hybrid filter compensates other than dominant harmonics. The reference signal for the active filter is the fundamental current attained from the line current and the hysteresis controller switches the MOSFET in order that the line current follows the reference current. The study is carried out in the system by considering the line impedance. The different types of filter are studied with adaptive controller in MATLAB environment.
