Abstract

RATIONALE: Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis (CMCC) comprises a heterogeneous group of diseases including Autoimmune Poly-Endocrinopathy-Candidiasis-Ectodermal Dystrophy (APECED), caused by mutations in the AIRE gene. To study genetic predisposition to CMCC, we analyzed autoimmunity associated genes, including the PTPN22, R620 W variant, of the lymphoid protein tyrosine phosphatase (LYP). We aimed to determine whether there is an association between the R620 W variant and a subgroup of patients with CMCC.
