Abstract

Current guidelines emphasize early plasma transfusion and balanced transfusion in trauma patients with hemorrhagic shock. There have been 2 recent randomized control trials, the Prehospital Air Medical Plasma (PAMPer) trial and the Control of Major Bleeding After Trauma (COMBAT) trial, that took a closer look at initiating plasma transfusion even earlier - in the prehospital setting. These trials had contradicting results as the PAMPer trial showed improved survival and the COMBAT trial showed no benefit.
