Abstract

Diseased hypocotyls of Phaseolus vulgaris infected with Fusarium solani f. sp. phaseoli had fungal hyphae wrapped around and colonizing trichomes. Trichomes on uninoculated control plants appeared healthy, with no signs of damage. Trichomes may provide an entry point for Fusarium invasion of roots.
