Abstract

Thirty participants who aged from 21 to 37 years old were recruited for this study and divided into two groups depending on driving license. The cognitrone, visual pursuit and tachistoscopic traffic tests were conducted by Vienna Test System. The total hits, total correct rejection and mean time were recorded in Cognitrone test. Further, forty items of visual pursuit test were performed and the scores, median time of correct answers were recorded. Finally, a total of 20 pictures of traffic situations are presented in one second. There are five answer choices: pedestrians/children, motor vehicles, bikes/motorcycles/scooters, traffic signs and traffic lights. The overview score, correct answer entries, incorrect answer entries, working time were evaluated. Results of MANOVA showed that the sores of cognitrone test, scores of visual pursuit and incorrect answer entries were significant differences between genders. Female subjects had shorter mean time for correct rejection (1.99 sec) than male (2.93 sec) in cognitrone test. Female subjects also had better visual pursuit performance. The driving experience group had better cognitrone and visual pursuit performance. Results of this study could be used in evaluated and trained of visual detection abilities.
