Abstract

Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) is an immunoglobulin-E (IgE)-mediated allergy to galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal), found in mammalian meat and products. In the United States, reports suggest exposure to lone star ticks predisposes to AGS, but epidemiological evidence is lacking.
