Abstract

This article investigates the sorptive properties of coal with regard to methane and carbon dioxide for the purpose of evaluating the implications of this behavior for coal seam degassing and underground ventilation strategies. Information on the porosity and microstructure of various coals as well as adsorption isotherms for methane and carbon dioxide are presented. The investigation is conducted for a coal mine in the Donbass region.
