Abstract

Sleep is important for physical and mental health in adolescents of growth period. In addition, dissatisfaction sleep is a significant risk factor for obesity in adolescents. Although there are many health benefits of physical activity, association between physical activity and sleep is unclear. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between the physical activity (PA) and self-rated quality of sleep (SRQS) in Korean adolescents. METHODS: The 9th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBWS, 2013) was analyzed for this study. Also, this study used cross-sectional data included 72,435 (36,655 boys and 35,780 girls) middle and high-school students. RESULTS: Table 1 Associations between the SRQS and the PA in Korean adolescentsTable: No title available.CONCLUSION: Encouraging regular PA (e.g., vigorous PA, PA 60 min./day, and strength training) participation may lead to maintained sufficient sleep among Korean adolescents. In particular, sufficient sleep was found to be positively associated with good self-rated health.
